Commen Men! Uncommon Missions!

School run by 16-Year Old Boy!
16-year old 11th standard student Babar Ali conducts classes for children who could not afford the luxury of studying in regular schools. He has been teaching poor children in his residence at Berhampore, West Bengal for the past 5 years. As many as 600 children living in nearby villages as far as 4 kms come for education.

Babar's education scheme includes free rice distribution also to attract children and this facility is provided by the government though his "school" is not recognised by the Government. Babar's dream is to have a full fledged school for the have-nots in the years to come.

Let us pray for his success in this New Year!

Ordeal of a young man for a Smoke- Free City!

Hemant Goswami, a young good Samaritan of Chandigarh works for a noble cause- banning of tobacco use and no-smoking in the public places as early as the year 2004. He focused on Government department offices and public places and educated people on the harmful effects of tobacco and smoking through lectures, discussions and placards for a couple of years.

With his untiring efforts coupled with the local police support, Chandigarh became smoke-free city in 2007 even before Health Minister Mr. Ramadoss enforced the law prohibiting smoking in public places! Hemant still continues with his mission with individual monitoring teams to maintain the city free of tobacco smoke.

Let us wish Hemant and his team all success in their noble endeavours and look forward to extension of his mission to other parts of India also!
