London Tour!

I had been to London on a short visit on my way to the USA to join my son.

London is a mixed bag of old and new. It is an old city with a new look! Yes! On one side you will see simple two storied houses constructed in the Victorian style and on the other side world's most efficient Tube Rail system, the St. Paul's Cathedral built in the year 1896 with fabulous architectural and sculptural designs of the Victorian Age and the London Heathrow Airport terminal 5 housing the most modern logistic systems.

The Buckingham Palace and the ceremonial change of guards every day is a colorful event and no tourist fails to take photographs of this event.

Thames River which bisects London adds to the beauty of the city and the boat tour is spectacular covering the numerous bridges like the London Bridge, Millennium Bridge, Westminster Bridge and their background history!

Madam Tussuad Wax Museum attracts people from all over the world. You can take photograph with your favorite celebrity at no extra cost. The life-size statues of President Barack Obama and Pop King Michael Jackson are the latest additions which draw huge audience for snap shots (of course you have to pay 8 to 10 British Pounds for each snap!)

London Tower depicts muscle power of the British regime from the Medieval period to the first and second World Wars. Statues of celebrity warriors of the royal families, Rare and rich collections of the British Treasury from their colonies including the Kohinoor Diamond gifted by the King of Punjab (India)to the British royal family are the main attractions.

You are never a stranger to the city. Follow maps and instructions religiously without a word of consultation of the locals - you are bound to reach your destination without any difficulty!

The city is very expensive on all aspects - lodging, food, travel, gift, tourist attraction spots, etc.

The city planners have not been generous in providing toilet facilities for the tourists - less in number and on pay & use basis unlike those in the United States of America.

In spite of the minor inconveniences, London is attractive and I will visit the city once again when I get an opportunity!
