This is an era of revolutionary changes in the society like marriage between members of the same sex. There is an addition to this list now - marriage between first cousins! Yes. This has happened recently in the USA, where cousins marrying is illegal in 25 states.
The new terminology for the cousin husband is "cusband"!
Marriage between first cousins was not encouraged in the past on medical grounds owing to birth defects and high mortality risk rates of the off springs. However, of late, medical researches find that with the advancement in prenatal treatments, these problems could be minimized.
In the modern times, falling in love with a stranger without knowing his or her background is very risky as the intention to marry is not genuine in many cases and the innocent ones are cheated. Presumably cousins may find it convenient to carry on with their romance because they know each other fully well and are no strangers!. Medical men have also declared that cousins love is no more a forbidden fruit! Quo vadis - where are we heading to in our modern society? Please share your views.
