Safer cars for moms-to-be!

Automobile safety features may be extended to pregnant women too in the near future! The industry so far addressed the problems pertaining to children and infants apart from adults.

US Biomedical Engineering researchers are studying the impact of forces on pregnant drivers during an automobile accident. They have found that the placenta is torn off from the uterus cutting off the oxygen supply to the fetus causing its instant death.

During the course of their experiments, researchers simulated actual tissue conditions of the woman at different stages of pregnancy to design a fool proof crash protection system to save the fetus during fatal accidents.

Hopefully moms-would-be will have a safer auto travel in the near future thanks to science and technology!
