Wine tastes better in red background light!

I visited a local restaurant in my home town with my wife and relatives immediately after Christmas. The lighting provided inside the restaurant looked bit odd with a dark red background. I felt it as more of an eyesore; the strong color was a striking contrast to the usual dim and mild sober light background which is more pleasing to the eyes.

I had a casual discussion with the manager of the restaurant on my observation while other members of my family were busy exploring the menu card and ordering their favorites.

I came across very interesting revelations during our discussion. Red light background enhances the taste of wine, especially its sweetness. I could also recall having read in a newspaper magazine about the extensive research conducted in Germany on behavior of people on consumption of wine under different light backgrounds. Several combination of lights were used on experimental group of people. People sitting under red and blue light ambiance were found to relish wine better. They also experienced that the wine was sweeter than before.

Believe me, our family members enjoyed the dinner on that occasion, the wine was tastier and sweeter!

Restaurant owners, now you know the secret of attracting wine lovers! Go ahead painting and lighting your restaurant with red for a roaring business!
