When the dictum "Service with smile" is becoming a rarity nowadays, a restaurant in China sets an example for hospitality and kindness with a different breed of attendants to serve and entertain customers.
A female receptionist greets you with a 'Welcome' smile while another attendant presents you with the menu card and takes your order with a pleasant demeanor. You are also treated with floor dance and personal chats to hit the pinnacle of joy while eating. What more, the attendants never get impatient and they do not demand any tips!
The restaurant which has been opened in Jinan in north Shandong employs robots as attendants who move gracefully on a conveyor belt arrangement with trays filled with delicious food which can be picked up by customers. There are a dozen robots employed as receptionists, supervisors and waiters; their strength will be increased to 30 very soon to serve customers better. People throng to this restaurant in large numbers not only for the food but also to enjoy the company of the robots.
Don't you feel that this sets the trend for the future labor employment in consumer segment on the Planet Earth?
Wow, look at all the jobs that are lost. That was my first thought. It would be interesting to see however. There are some amazing innovations out there.
