Your psychiatrist is a rent collector!

What is the difference between a psychosis and a neurosis? These terms refer to different states of the human mind. Wikipedia decodes the meaning of these terms exhaustively.

Psychotics may experience hallucinations or delusional beliefs and may exhibit personality changes or thought disorders. Depending on its severity, a psychotic may exhibit unusual bizarre behavior. Such people may have difficulty in social interaction and impairment in carrying out daily life activities.

Neurosis, on the other hand, is a class of functional mental disorders involving distress but neither delusions nor hallucinations wherein behavior is not outside socially acceptable norms. As such a neurotic essentially exhibits invisible injury and the resulting condition.

Do you find these definitions complicated? Relax, here is the explanation in a nutshell.

A psychotic builds castles in the air.
A neurotic lives in it.
A psychiatrist collects the rent!
