Strange Tribal Wedding!

A British filmmaker, Sarah Begum, quit her job at 21 to study the Huaroani tribe of Ecuador. Once there, she Ginkto after an acquaintance of a few days.
became so deeply involved in the life of the tribe that she ended up marrying one of its men, a 51-year-old warrior named

Begum says she took part in a ceremony that she didn't at the time realise was in effect a wedding. “I had no idea what was going on. At first I thought it was just an initiation ceremony but then there was this guy next to me who had his arms around me. It was so surreal,“ Begum says.

She was relieved to find later, however, that the “marriage“ was symbolic and not binding. Begum's documentary on the tribe, Amazon Souls, was shown in London recently.

  1. That's different. I'm glad it wasn't binding though. That would have been a big shock.

    Have a fabulous day. ☺
