Interesting Innovations!

Invisibility cloak closer to realityIn a first, scientists made an object disappear by using a composite material that can enhance an object's surface properties, an advance that may lead to practical invisibility cloaks. Researchers at Queen Mary University of London School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science, presented a cloaking device that allows curved surfaces to appear flat to electromagnetic waves. “The design is based on transformation optics, a concept behind the idea of the invisibility cloak,“ said Yang Hao from QMUL.

Happy cows give nutritious milk
When cows are happy, they produce more nutritious milk with higher levels of calcium, new research suggests.Researchers at the University of Wisconsin-Madison found that daily infusions with a naturally-occurring chemical associated with feelings of happiness increased calcium levels in the milk of Jersey cows that had just given birth. The results could lead to a better understanding of how to improve the health of dairy cows, and keep the milk flowing.
