The valiant teenager!

In United Kingdom, a 14-year old girl was suffering from a rare type of cancer.  She wanted her body to be preserved in deep freeze state after her death.  Her desire was to to come back to life on a future date when the right treatment and drugs would be invented for her disease.

In the scientific field, there is a technique known as Cryonics for deep freezing of bodies of people who die due to certain incurable diseases with a hope for future cure.  In  this process, the body is kept in ice and treated with certain chemicals to prevent blood clotting and  brain damage.  After draining the blood, certain chemicals are injected into blood vessels to prevent ice formation.  Thereafter the body is preserved at an extremely low temperature of minus 196 degrees Centigrade  in liquid Nitrogen.

The matter was referred to a court.  Having heard the plea of the young girl through her counsel (obviously she was unable to be present in the court physically), the Judge gave a verdict granting her wish on humanitarian grounds.  It is a rare judgement too!

The verdict was given just 11 days before the death of the girl and she was immensely happy about this judgement.  In her own words, “I want to live and live longer and I think that in the future they may find a cure for my cancer and wake me up!“

Don't you feel that the courage and hope of the girl needs to be applauded?
